Calgary Community Kitchens
Community Kitchens is modifying their format to better meet people’s
needs. This new program is called Mini Kitchens program. The basics of
the new style is that people meet once to plan for the next 6 sessions.
Community Kitchens does all the shopping. Then every 2 weeks the group
meets for 3 hours in the evening and prepares 6-7 main courses at a cost
of approx 1.85 per serving (this is very reasonable.) You pay for and
cook for the number people you would like to take servings for (eg. if
you are a family of 5 - you take 5 servings of each of the 6 meals home
every 2 weeks.) The planning session is supported by staff from
community kitchens and they show the participants how to budget their
food dollar. Participants would have to travel to the Kitchen site 3751
- 21 Street NE
The Good Food Box is a Community Kitchen of Calgary program that enables people to purchase fresh fruit and vegetables for less. Orders are taken and delivered once a month from our Resource Centre in the Huntington Hills Community Association building.
